What is Reiki
The word Reiki means ‘Universal Life Force Energy’ and refers to the energy that flows through all living things. There is an abundant supply of this energy all around us and when we are in excellent health there is a powerful flow through the body. During stressful times this energy flow is decreased or restricted and the body’s natural self-healing mechanisms are unable to function properly. When this happens we start to feel unwell and our health suffers. Reiki is an ancient form of healing that rebalances the body’s energy systems and helps the body’s self- healing mechanisms to start working correctly again in order to restore the body to good health.
A trained practitioner will have received a number of attunements. This refers to a series of procedures which allows their energetic system to receive a greatly increased amount of life force energy. An attuned practitioner only needs to place their hands on a person for this energy to flow through them. That person will then be the recipient of an energy boost enabling them to feel both energised and relaxed at the same time with a sense of greater inner peace and calm.
People from all walks of life are enjoying the many benefits of Reiki, including relief from ill health, stress and unhappiness. Through Reiki you can also find the courage to deal with self-destructive behaviours, negative thought patterns and limiting beliefs. It’s easy to learn, even if you have no previous experience of other therapies.
Accessible to Everyone
All over the world people are discovering the power of Reiki for themselves. The beauty is that it is accessible to everyone and can be learned in a weekend. Once learned it will be with you for the rest of your life. You can use it to help yourself, other people, animals and plants.

“Doctors said I couldn’t dance for 60 days. But Reiki healed me in just four.”
Michael Flatley – Dancer & Choreographer; Riverdance, Lord of the Dance & Feet of Flames
The technique of Reiki is simple. It combines well with other complementary therapies such as reflexology, homeopathy, massage and aromatherapy. In an article in the Daily Mail, Lord of the Dance star Michael Flatley reported “Doctors said I couldn’t dance for 60 days. But Reiki healed me in just four.” After suffering a particularly bad injury, Michael turned to alternative therapies for help. He said “For me, the evidence speaks for itself. Healing helps me to overcome many injuries in a short space of time, which conventional medicine just cannot do.”
